Hamster care

• Feed basic hamster mix each evening as the hamster wakes up
• Always have fresh water available
• Clean the cage weekly, throwing away any old wood shavings and food
• Remove any fresh food the hamster may be storing after a few days to prevent rotting
• When you change the hamster bedding, leave some of the old bedding in the cage – they like it that way
• Best buy specialist pet bedding – newspaper ink can be harmful if chewed and some wood shavings (pine and cedar) can also be toxic
